In summer of 2005 a group of us at the Jeanneau Rendezvous started talking about the possibility of extending the 2006 rendezvous to include a New England leg.

Well, thanks to lots of hard work by Kris Vereen at the BYA office, as well as total support from a number of our staff, we were able to pull it off. Pictured, below, right, are the staff members that went along on the trip: Chris, Justin, Douglass, Kris and Eric--thanks to you all!

Well, in the end, we had easy winds and calm seas. No one had any real problems and, while I'd like to talk about our great stormy adventure, the truth is we had almost nothing but fair weather (that's why we chose this time of year-and why we're doing it again.)

Our favorite place? Boy that's hard. I think a general consensus was Block Island, though for beautiful picture taking opportunities you can't beat Cuttyhunk--take a look at the Slide show  and see what you think.

Best Clam Chowder? The Black Pearl Restaurant in Newport.

Best Sunset, the edge of a storm at Cuttyhunk. Best Mooring--Nantucket harbor--easy and accommodating. Favorite place to hang out--"The Oar", Block Island.

Favorite gizmo--the cell phone amplifier that also amplified the air cards on our laptops.

DESCRIPTION: The Rally will consist of 3 legs. You may sign up for as many legs as fit your schedule. (Owners, you  may make your boat available for one or more legs to charterers.) More information below. THIS IS A FINAL PLANNING FORM. EVERYONE MUST FILL OUT AS ACCURATELY AS POSSIBLE HOW YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE.

Charterers or ASA course may participate on your boat  if you don't have the time to do all 3 legs--see info on sign up form.

Leg 1. July 26th, to approximately July 27th. We will proceed non stop, overnight to Atlantic City (Trump Marina) and regroup, refuel and prepare to leave by noon for the second leg to Block Island.

We will then spend time on Block Island and proceed to Newport to provision and pick up or drop off crews.

Leg 2. July 28th to Aug 8th. Proceed to  various ports in the New England Islands. (See schedule below.)

Beach clam bakes and other events will be planned.

Leg 3. Aug 8th to Aug 11th. Return--depending on what everyone wants, —retracing the earlier route, or proceeding through Long Island Sound, the race and out the Hudson.
