The new Jeanneau 45DS
 Everyone else--back to the drawing boards!Jeanneau creates the new class leader. Jeanneau is the number one builder of Deck Saloon boats in the world. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery--then Jeanneau is flattered by all of the imitations out there. But now, thank you very much, Jeanneau has again leapt ahead. Here are just a few of the highlights you'll find aboard the new Jeanneau 45DS: 1. The cockpit has been lengthened and now is about the size of that on the 54DS! (Huge--with lots of seating and comfort and room to move around. NOTICE: The cockpit and transom (outdoor living space) cover almost half the boat--And the interior is still roomier with more storage than anything in its class--you have to see the benefits to believe it!) 2. Sheet winches are at the helm, and all controls are led back to the cockpit. The cockpit floor has been raised and coach roof lowered so visibility forward is greatly enhanced! 3. There is a large, dedicated, life raft compartment with direct overboard access aft. Under this, is a dedicated generator compartment--end result is noise is out of the cabin, and more storage space is left below. 4. Inside--the newly designed windows are bigger and come down lower offering greatly enhanced light and visibility when (even the shortest crew) is standing. There are much larger hull ports as well. The layout is enhanced with a huge owners's cabin aft (2 cabin version) or forward (3 cabin version). Huge Nav/entertainment space, larger refer/freezer, more storage, more comfortable mattresses and on and on. Check out the slide show to get a better idea, or see the boat in Annapolis in August. We are taking orders now! 5. All the deck saloons have more storage under the raised floor with bins, etc. The 45 goes a step further with full surround cabinets with gas cylinder hinges. She truly has more storage than any other boat in her class! The new boat will offer two different versions. One with owner's cabin forward and 2 cabins aft with 2 heads. Perfect for a family or for charter. In the 2 cabin version: The forward cabin is large and comfortable. In effect, you will have two owner's cabins. The aft cabin is huge. I found that even the tallest crewmember can easily move around in the aft cabin, and sit straight up on the bed with no headroom problem. Both heads offer separate showers with Plexiglas doors--an elegant soulution. In either case, the main saloon is huge,
light and bright with exceptional outside visibility. Handholds are
plentiful, fiddles are high, and storage throughout, including under the
raised floors (with drop in bins) is exceptional. The galley has a
large refrigerator with separate freezer compartment and a dedicated space
for a large microwave. Many of the features are enhancements to former DS
models, and most are simply not available on the competition at
anywhere near the price. By the way, see the discussion on the

To provide stiffness, a structural grid of laminated hard- wood, or engineered fiberglass is bonded directly to the hull. Kevlar® cloth, and directional glass laminate is then added to high stress areas (the exact schedule is engineered for each model and varies from model to model) for additional strength and impact resistance. This configuration works exceptionally well with today's modern cruiser with the beam carried well aft. The alternative is to have a huge wheel or be forced to sit on the centerline. A side benefit is that you have a clear walk through to get to the aft swim platform or to the helm without having to climb up on the seat.
