Reducing the cost of sailingThis article talks about setting your boat up as a business--on the East Coast. Actually we offer this as one of three alternatives. (Though we have limited openings in other areas as well.) Ask!

"I wasn't using my boat as much as I used to, and found a way to make it pay for itself!"Whether you own a boat now, or want to own a new or used boat--this program may be for you! John found that by placing his 4 year old Catalina in our management fleet on the Chesapeake, that he could cover almost 70% of his expenses and still use his boat as much as he wanted. Paul's boat was for sale. He brought it to Annapolis and placed it in our management fleet where it sold for his asking price within a month, while it was earning enough to pay it's expenses. (It sold to one of the clients who chartered it and wanted to keep it in Annapolis--in charter. This approach opens a whole new market!.) Mary is a busy executive who found it time consuming to drive down to her boat a couple of times a month, only to be faced with numerous small chores and hours of cleaning and make ready. She liked the idea of having her boat professionally maintained and still covering 85% of it's costs--including the loan payment. Jeff didn't want his boat chartered. However, he found himself using his boat less and less because of the time it took to get it ready every time he wanted to go out. He elected to have us simply manage his boat. Now he uses it worry free. A quick call the night before he wants to use it and it's open, iced, aired out and ready to go when he arrives in Annapolis. You can help sell charters or boats. Charter your boat or not--it can simply be your demo and you can qualify for many business advantages, including tax advantages! Check out the article! Our plan is simple...We make you a Sales Associate and help you set up your business. We have confidential, S.A. pages already set up so we can communicate and train you via the web. You can participate as much or little as you like. Some owners help at boat shows, demo their boat for clients we send them, set up their own web page, etc. We help with everything. The second step: You set your boat up as a charter/demo business and appoint us as your manager. We handle all of the details of managing your boat. Maintenance, make readies, advertising--everything. You can use your boat as much as you want. Focus on demos, rather than charters. Keep it local, or follow the sun to the Caribbean in the winter. We'll offer you a complete business plan based on your unique priorities. You schedule your use whenever you like and we block out the schedule for that. When you're not using your boat or conducting demos, we will charter it--if you like. (We will have the schedule posted to the web so that you will always know what's going on--and be able to find last minute holes in the schedule without disrupting your income stream.). Bottom line examples...These examples show bottom line, monthly costs after covering all expenses, including a loan payment based on 75% of the cost. These examples show your return and the costs covered simply by chartering. As a Sales Associate, you could qualify for additional income, and/or you can combine programs. Call us after you review this table to discuss your particular situation. The examples reflect 4 different situations. In each case, the first line is the actual cost (-) or profit (+)/mo, the second is the percent savings compared to owning the same boat without the program. (By way of comparison, at the end, I have shown the monthly profit when put in our Caribbean program to maximize profits.) There are many variables, but these examples represent some typical cases. Your participation as a Sales Associate could add income to this, or be shown instead of this. Also, tax advantages are not shown here, but we will show you what happens in our custom projection that we ultimately prepare for you after we better understand your goals. So, take a look at the results when you simply offer your boat for charter at one of our E. Coast bases, close to home--while you use it unrestricted, as much as you like. (Note, in addition, the value of your personal use is not considered. keep in mind that if the alternative were to charter a boat numerous times, the moderate or heavy personal use costs shown here would probably be offset or eliminated by the money you don't have to pay to charter other's boats!
