We have an immediate opening for a motivated, dynamic individual who would like to get into the boat business. No age, sex or race
discrimination. We have a dynamic sales office that is one of the most successful in the U.S., if not the world in the sailboat industry. If you've browsed the Web pages, you already have a pretty good idea of who we are and the products that we represent.
For this particular position, we are looking for someone who lives within 1 hour of Annapolis, or is willing to move.

Here's your job description if we ran an ad:

company
will pay for all necessary office support. They will pay for all marketing and advertising expenses. In short, they will cover the entire cost of the overhead expense. You will be an independent contractor running your own business within this environment. All you need do is invest your time and creative talents.
The more of the following attributes that you have, the better chance of success...
The ideal candidate will have had some professional sales experience (not necessarily in a related field). Some sailing experience. It's especially valuable if you have monohull and catamaran experience on larger boats. Computer experience, not necessarily programming, but previous experience working with word processing, data bases and spread sheets is helpful. The ability to type--helpful. You're comfortable working with other business and professional people. Your personality is outgoing, dynamic, competitive and balanced. You get along well with people, but have an independent streak and are very self-motivated. You want to be successful and measure success not only in monetary terms, but also by the degree of personal accomplishment and satisfaction that is achieved.
We sometimes work long hours, and often on weekends though most of the time we take one to two days a week off. We generally get some sailing time in doing demos or deliveries and get 1-3 week breaks in the winter
(Dec/Jan) and
during the summer (July/Aug). Half of us own boats and complain we don't get to sail often enough. Income in the industry varies from $25,000 to $150,000 or more. We won't keep anyone who makes less than $70,000.

Here's an entirely new concept. You can participate as much, or as little as you wish. Here are some of the benefits and possibilities:
- You get a boat with pre-paid commissions which help reduce it's cost.
- You earn commissions demonstrating your boat to local people who you recruit, or who we send to you.
- You earn additional commissions and bonuses when these contacts result in sales.
- You can work at boat shows and earn additional commissions.
- We will set up a WEB page for you with your own E-Mail address and you can use the power of our Web site to enhance your own sales.
- You can act as a charter broker or referring agent and earn additional commissions.
- You can conduct sailing courses on your boat and or charter it for additional income (optional, see the next subject on greatly increasing your income by offering your boat for charter.)
- You can set up your own business with numerous business and tax advantages such as:
- You may qualify for a state dealer license which will allow you to legally avoid state sales tax. You use your boat as a demonstrator.
- You can write off a certain amount of your boat's expenses as legitimate business expenses. Depending on your degree of involvement and level of income, you may be able to write off all of the expenses plus qualify for substantial depreciation deductions (either passive, or active rules may apply.)
- You may be able to use your boat, legitimately for entertaining, rewards and other benefits for your business or your clients business.
- You will generate additional income.
- All members of your family can participate, and you can pay your children, when appropriate, and write off these expenses.
- You may need to travel to charter areas in the Caribbean and write off these expenses.
- You can get even more involved with the other parts of our Yacht Profit Sharing Management Plan--see the next subject.

You can combine the Sales Associate portion of our program, with the opportunity to earn even more or build equity faster. By becoming a partner with our management team in our SailScape program, we can show you how you can generate profit and tax advantages that when combined will allow you to own your boat outright in 1/3 the time for 1/3 the costs.
This concept is covered in much more detail on our Investment page. You can go there now to learn more, and then follow the instructions to get more detailed information and a business plan. If this is your primary interest you're better to follow that section than this one including it's own Request for Information Form on Exit.

Start with two million! So the joke goes--though it often rings too true.
We've been running a small business in Annapolis since 1972. We've got affiliate companies in most of the major sailing centers in the Atlantic basin. The Chesapeake (Annapolis area) alone is home to millions of people up and down the New York, Washington D.C. corridor and includes
Philadelphia, Baltimore, Wilmington and Richmond among other major population centers.
We've been here long enough to be able to help evaluate properties and locations. We could
optimize occupancy rates in an office/Marina complex just with our fellow businessmen--if we all had a stake in the investment.
If you're interested in exploring the possibilities of investing in Marina/Office complexes, a boat sales company or a charter management company--let's talk.

Check out what's necessary.
Coming--Virtual full and part time positions...
Later, we will be adding an intra and extranet and bringing on full and part time virtual brokers. So even if you aren't ready to become a full time Annapolis Broker, if you think that you have the right stuff--sign up and tell us more about what you're looking for!

(Or would you like too? See above.)
We are interested in networking with other small (generally under 50 boats in a single fleet) charter companies who would consider the idea of joining forces in order to cross
pollinate.
- Providing fresh new boats for all participating companies.
- Share advertising and promotion expenses (like with this WEB site).
- Broker for each other using the SailScape Charter Club program to keep clients in our hemisphere of influence. (When they book from any company in the group, they get the benefits at all of the other companies also.)
- Share computer programs. We are currently finishing up the development of an all encompassing program that would include putting boat schedules on the WEB where they could be freely accessed (literally) by all of our associates, other charter brokers, travel agents and even owners. All of this is in addition to managing day to day activities efficiently.
- Standardizing agreements.
If any of these ideas make sense to you--fill out the form and return it, or call me personally, Eric Smith 1-410-263-2311.
