"This is a whole new way of thinking about boat ownership. You can own a brand new boat for
less than the cost of a used boat, less than the cost of a "Owning sailing time with a, fractional ownership plan", even for less than the cost of chartering". Get the facts and then you decide...

Bay Yacht Agency seminarThere are huge tax advantages available this year and next if you act soon! Our information includes incorporating the new, 2008 tax incentives. Call 410-263-2311

Our plan is called Boat-As-A-Business and it offers an alternative approach to boat ownership and investing. It's not a tax shelter. It's not a Charter company program. It's not "to good to be true".

Business plans

These business plans are designed to give you an overview. The numbers are averaged over 5 years--though this is no magic number. You may stay in our program as long as you like.

If you haven't attended a seminar, or talked one-on-one with one of our associates, I urge you to look at the two links to the left to understand our program overall, and to understand the difference between a charter company plan and a management plan.

The simple business plans.

The tables show cash flow examples (expense and income) based on differing amounts of personal use, and based on your choice of boat and area.

The numbers are averaged over 5 years, though you may stay in the program for a longer or shorter term. I urge you to read: An overall review of our program in some detail  for a more thorough discussion.

The maximum possible East Coast chartering is about 13 weeks. In the Islands, from about 20-29 weeks is possible.

The program that's right for you depends on many factors, and most importantly on your personal goals. Please consult with our associates, below, to discuss your needs and get a price quote. Whenever you feel ready, you may go to the next step to get a custom, detailed business plan, and consult with a professional tax advisor knowledgeable about this subject.

Tax Bracket % Combined Fed/State! generally 20-40% on average. 38% typical. Calculate your tax bracket with this handy calculator.

How much of your income do you want to offset in the first year? (How big a tax deduction?) You can qualify for up to 50% bonus depreciation and $250,000 in 179 expense allowance. You could enter $25,000, 100,000 up to $387,500 on a $500,000 boat -- conservatively, a rule of thumb would be to enter up to 60% of the boats price as a maximum number--if you think that you can use that much. It's also o.k. to enter $0 and simply spread your deductions out more evenly. If you're not sure, put 0%

% of boats price.

Safety?

At the end of the day, we want you and your family to be safe. Not only are free lessons at any level a part of your package, but...

Safety? Keep everyone in the cockpit while handling sails. New radios and cell phone amplifiers offer much better communication when needed. Modern chart plotters let you know exactly where you are in fair weather or foul, and as a bonus display: Radar (collision avoidance), a video camera that sees beyond your overlapping headsail and complete weather so you can seek a safe harbor well before bad weather arrives. Automatic, engine room fire extinguishing system... We're finding these options on more and more of our new boats.

We are huge advocates of safety. We offer  courses to help you practice docking, and we also offer courses to take you to any level of proficiency that you desire.

How to choose a serious cruising monohull.

2. The next step

Get started...

Our abbreviated time period didn't let me do all of this for you--what you need to do is talk to us now so we can get you cruis'n this summer. Fill out the finance application as a preliminary step...

Feel free to look over the information on this page, especially the business plans.

When you send the form, above,  we will provide you with a detailed business plan, based on this information, which will show complete details of your new business. You will see cash flows, tax effects, maintenance tables and everything that you need.

The tables will show you this information on a year by year basis.

You don't need to understand all of the tax issues--you just need an overall understanding. You're not ready to go to a tax advisor until you have submitted this form, and your finance application and received a more comprehensive business plan with the finance terms incorporated.

Further, if you or your tax advisor would like to talk to a CPA who has extensive knowledge and resources available, we can arrange this.

Here's all we ask. You should talk to one of our associates and get a boat priced out the way that you want it. Submit a finance application, and he will set up a simple hull reservation. You see, we need to freeze everything while you're getting the information that you need. The Hull reservation will hold a production slot and a price while we're seeing if this plan makes sense for you. There is nothing to lose. If you decide not to proceed, it won't cost you anything.

Link to the form here.

Ask us about our on-going seminar program if you're more than a year away from a decision... We offer seminars on the programs, on choosing your boat and on handling your boat. Get on our mailing list to keep up on the schedule.
