Sales Associate...

Signing up and Setting up your web page
We will work with you to set up a web page on our site. You may then take any or all parts of it and put it on your own site if you wish.

The central idea of your web page is to promote your boat and create a more personal experience between the potential charterers who visit our site and you and your boat.

The web is a very personal medium, and your personal web page needs to be... well, personal. Below are some suggestions for your own page and a form where you can send in your information. In addition to this, you should send a separate email with a personal picture. .

Eric Smith   President

Before getting started, you may want to visit one of the rate pages where you can see some other owner's pages for some ideas. I warn you that most of these did not use the ideas I've shown here and so could be much improved. To see some samples, go here.

Becoming a sales associate...

Who should become a sales associate...
  • If you've bought a boat from BYA and it's in our management program.
  • If you're in the process of owning a boat in our YPSMP (Yacht Profit Sharing Management Program.)
  • If you're thinking of placing a boat in our plan. This could range from having a boat in your home waters (you purchase through us) and collaborating with showing it to people we refer, to setting up your own, small chartering business where you want to keep your boat--on thorough helping us work with an existing charter company in your area or--moving on to joining (as a partner) into one of our existing management bases.
  • If any of these are possible options for you--proceed.

There are several levels that you can participate in...

Who Qualifies...

You, if you've bought a boat through Bay Yacht Agency--whether it's in our Profit Sharing Management Plan, or not.

Why be a Sales Associate...

Because on one level or another, you can earn income and, possibly, gain tax advantages by setting your boat up as a part time business.

How do you earn money...

Several possible ways...
  1. Simply refer people to us who might be interested in chartering or owning. The difference is that we make it easy providing you with specific information you can use, and forms to send in right from the WEB.
  2. Set up your own small business right at home. You can demonstrate and/or teach sailing to people we send you or that come to you via a web page we create for you. You can combine this with referrals, and if you like, we will even help you set up your boat in your own charter business with us helping you get it booked.
  3. Finally, you can do all of the above, plus place your boat with one of our existing, successful management companies to optimize your income and tax advantages. Further, we can create a personal WEB page and you may even elect to work at boat shows with us promoting our program and earning additional income!
Sound like fun? All you need to do is register here, and we'll provide the information you need to get started!

Before you proceed to fill out the entire form, only to find that it doesn't go--simply type your last name with a hyphen and the word TEST and try submitting this way first to make sure everything works! If it does, then go ahead and fill this out. If it doesn't, call me (410-263-2311) or print the form and mail it in--BYA, 326 First St. Annapolis, MD 21403. Contact me at my personal E-Mail address: esmith@bayacht.com

NOTE: MMA, Inc. T/A Bay Yacht Agency is solely responsible for the terms and conditions of this program. Any participant may be accepted or denied participation rights and such rights shall be determined solely by BYA. BYA reserves the right to limit participation, or change the terms of participation at any time without notice. By applying for participation, you agree to all of the terms of the program, including agreeing to sign a participation agreement which will be forwarded to you with a promotional package. Upon termination for any reason, you agree to cease using any resources provided by the program, including electronic resources.

Why should others join our program?

If you've had your boat in our program for a while, and you were talking to a potential new participant, what would you say was the best part of the program?
What's the second reason? Please use the box below to elaborate.
Describe other key points that you would make: (Positive or negative and any warnings or caveats!)

Help us create a Web page for you here...

Or skip to send what you've done here.
Tell me a little about yourself and how you came to choose this program and/or this particular boat. (This will go along side your picture.)

Example: I'm a property developer with an engineering degree. 4 years ago, I went on a charter in the Caribbean with my family. We had such a great time, that we ended up taking sailing lessons as a family and enjoyed a couple of charters before I decided that I really wanted to get more involved and own a boat. I've got another 5 years or so when I'll be too busy to use a boat as much as I would like, so the Yacht Profit Sharing Management Plan (YPSMP) seems a perfect fit. I can use my boat as much as I can, but it pays for itself Plus, when I'm not using it. In 5 years or so, I'll just pay it off and then I'll have much more time to sail with my family.

Tell us what's special or unique about your boat.:

(If you want to refresh your memory, or review the other information that will be on your page--go to our new boat page and see the normal page--all of this plus your personal information will be on your personal page. Go check it out.)

Example: "BoatName" is set up with 4 double cabins and two heads. It's a little difficult to see in the drawings, but we chose the two head configuration because the heads are so much larger. There are separate entrances from the passageway and the forward cabin. We've also included an air purifier which helps keep everything fresh.

On deck, "BoatName" is easy to sail and we've provided not only an autopilot, but a remote so that you can steer from a deck chair anywhere from the cockpit or on deck.

The Nav station has a plug in for a lap top. If you have a program like Nobeltec, or the captain, you can plug the on-board cable into your lap top and display all instrument readings on your computer. In addition, the computer will keep a log as it reads the instrument data and you can elect to steer the boat via the connection of the auto-pilot with the GPS.

I know you'll have as much fun as Amy (wife) and I when we take out guests who don't have to lift a finger as the boat is easily handled by a cruising couple the way we have her set up. (We will have all of the information from the new boat page on your page.)

Tell us what your ultimate goal is:

Example: Our long term goal is to use the profit and tax advantages we gain from this boat business to increase our equity position and pay the boat off in about 5 years. We're having so much fun with the business, I may ultimately get my Captains license and get more involved as a part time captain--possibly offering sailing courses on my boat and working with BYA as a virtual broker for both charter and sales.

Do you want us to refer people to you to talk to about our program?
